This model performed well in our tests on both hard and carpeted floors, collecting 91.3 percent of debris from serpentine paths. It's not as effective in removing dirt from corners and edges as more expensive models. The sensors on the sides of the D4 keep it about 1.5 inches from walls. The Roomba 995 is also iRobot's most affordable vacuum that has recharge and resume, however it doesn't come with the auto-empty system that both the I6+ and I7 offer. It also doesn't have iAdapt 2.0 navigation and the camera that the I7 employs to identify objects and avoid obstacles. It can't access features like in-app containment or save maps.
